About Us
Who We Are
We are a Zambian Christian organisation that exists to provide help and support to survivors of church sexual abuse, raise awareness of sexual abuse in churches, and equip churches to prevent, recognise, and respond to abuse. We provide support to survivors of sexual abuse irrespective of gender, ethnicity or religious creed.
What We Do
Why Restored Hope?
For many victims of church abuse, the experience of hurt, pain, and shame as a result of the abuse is often made worse by a lack of appreciation of the seriousness of the situation by the very people that they approach for help.
This hostile attitude can be plain, but sometimes, it is subtle. And often, it is clouded with religious language that places further guilt and shame on survivors.
Disclosing abuse takes great courage, so when a survivor receives a belittling response, or is simply not believed, the effect can be devastating. This kind of response can compound the initial trauma, and can have lifelong negative impacts mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
We seek to help survivors find restoration through trauma-informed counselling, and where possible, by holding their abuser to account, by providing legal advice as we practically demonstrate the love of Christ to them.
We also seek to help church leaders and Christians understand the dynamics of abuse, how to safeguard against abuse occurring, and how to helpfully support those who make disclosures of abuse.
